The Corduse Difference

CORD:USE Public Cord Blood Bank was founded to create a large, ethnically diverse high quality inventory of available cord blood stem cell units for the many patients in need of a potentially life-saving transplant. CORD:USE has brought together many of the leaders in the fields of cord blood banking and transplantation to help build this important national resource to help meet the urgent need. As can be seen on the CORD:USE Leadership page, CORD:USE benefits from the membership of many of the pioneering scientists, doctors and practitioners in the various aspects of this field.

CORD:USE utilizes state-of-the-art technologies to ensure our cord blood units are of the very highest quality possible for therapeutic purposes. CORD:USE utilizes the BioArchive® cryogenic freezer to maintain constant ambient temperature to preserve the highest possible viability of the stem cells. CORD:USE also utilizes the SEPAX® processing system to help maximize the number of stem cells processed and retained from each banked cord blood unit.

CORD:USE is working with leading hospitals around the country to draw from diverse communities which greatly enhance the overall diversity of the cord blood stem cell inventories, thus increasing the probabilities of match for anyone in need.

CORD:USE makes these cord blood units available to transplanters, throughout the country and around the world, as a critical component in the treatment of over 70 life-threatening diseases. CORD:USE has received the prestigious accreditation from the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). CORD:USE lists its cord blood units on the National Marrow Donor Program’s (NMDP) Registry. CORD:USE has also been awarded a contract by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to expand the supply of cord blood units for the National Cord Blood Inventory.
